KemRisk Information

KemRisk contains a database with chemical properties and hazards for more than 35 000 substances. These facts form the basis for calculating the hazards and risks assessment, i. e. physical, health, and environment risks, of any product. The database can be accessed by all users making risk assessment possible, not only for substances and mixtures currently used, but also for products under consideration. Thus KemRisk may prevent risks before they appear.

When used for making MSDSs KemRisk calculates the content in each section and presents it in PDF format suitable for distribution to the customers. Where certain information is obligatory, you cannot change it and where it must not appear you cannot add it. Where the legislation allows you to choose alternatives, KemRisk suggest the most probable one but, if you are not satisfied with this suggestion, you can choose an alternative better fitting your commercial goal.

When used as a register system, the local officer needs not to know anything about the chemical and hazard properties of the products in use. At inventory or continuously, all products are registered at the place (room, cupboard, shelf etc.) where they appear, and this work is monitored by the chief of the department. This chief is responsible for the safe use of the chemicals and, using the report system of KemRisk, he can make all appropriate risk assessments for the department.

Similarly, in a big organisation, the central safety officer can make risk assessment according to  internal policies, e.g. according to ISO 14000 series, and easily respond to all questions from authorities concerning safety, environment protection etc.

Unique name indexing

The names of chemicals is a troublesome problem in chemical register systems. It is often ambiguous, and therefore KemRisk contains a unique indexing system for the names, facilitating finding the appropriate product despite local name variants.

Continuous updating by specialists

The database and the program are continuously updated according to the progress of the European legislation. This work is done by highly educated specialists certifying the highest possible quality of this work. We do not simply copy the information from safety data sheet available on the Internet. Instead we always try to find the scientifically most reliable source.

Occasionally our judgement is questioned and then we re-investigate it. If our judgement was correct, we inform our customer why the substance is classified like this. Otherwise we update our information according to the result of the re-investigation.

Multi-language use

At present KemRisk can be used in English, German, French, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and Finnish. More languages are in progress. If you are a chemist and fluently speaking any other EU or EES language, and willing to translate KemRisk into your language, please contact us.
